Meet Brittany! She is studying veterinary medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California. Recently, she hosted a Quizzo Study Session at her school, and it was a great success! Read more about why Brittany loves using StudyBlue to study.
What is your favorite feature on StudyBlue & why do you love it?
I love that classmates have access to others’ study materials. Our curriculum is very oriented towards collaborative learning, and StudyBlue is a great supplement.
How do you incorporate StudyBlue into your daily/weekly routine?
When I am reading a textbook or journal, I pull key points from the text and turn it into a question to help remind me of those sections. I’ll also take pictures from presentations or from the anatomy lab and make StudyBlue cards to help quiz myself on identification. I’ll review cards throughout the week, and before exams my study group will go through questions to quiz ourselves.
Do you have any advice or tips for students on how to use StudyBlue?
Our curriculum does not have required texts, so students get the information from wherever they can, and we can challenge test questions based on information we have read. Because of this, it is incredibly important that I cite my source on each one of my study cards, so I know where to go back to if I need more information.
Do you have any advice for students on how to prepare for exams?
Start early and review often! The more you look at the material, the easier it is going to be to remember it. You can’t sit down the weekend before exams and expect to do well or retain anything afterwards. Also, make sure you HAVE FUN! I’m on the road to doing something that I love, and I try to keep that in mind when I’m locked in a study room for hours on end. Take a break and dance, come up with goofy ways to remember things, and don’t forget to laugh.
What is your favorite flashcard deck to study from?
These are my pathology notes that I really like studying from.
Why do you study? What drives or motivates you to study?
I study because when I graduate, I’m going to be a veterinarian, and that is a huge responsibility that I do not take lightly. I study for my patients and their families!
Thanks Brittany for taking some time to talk with StudyBlue and for the great advice! We heart our students! If you’re interested in becoming part of “Studious,” please email molly (at) studyblue (dot) com.
