Found Footage Project The next assignment is based on (simple) picture and sound editing, and is due in two weeks from group A. I A 3-5 minute assembly/collage culled from found material (we'll discuss various techniques of "acquisition" on Friday), with an emphasis on formal articulation: rhythm, shape rhymes, color, texture and poetics limitation rules: 1. No using the soundtrack from the original material 2. No using music on your track 3. Only 1 (stereo or mono) track of sound at a time only - no mixing or multi-layered sound (that's for the third assignment) 4. Only 1 layer of image (no compositing - that's for the third assignment) I'll go over the rules of the game on Friday in more detail. II Your first contract (which can be revised at a later date if you change your mind) for your final project (with title, please), with projected budget, scripts/treatments/project description (if applicable) and a week by week plan of production, will be due in two weeks. III This week we will discuss the aesthetics of editing from narrative and experimental films, and look at the remainder of the first projects. If we have time, we'll also look at the SONY XD CAM HD camera. IV Reminder of your outside journals: Professor Ganguly's REMEMBERING STAN Date: Sunday, Feb. 7 Time: 7:30 PM Venue: ATLAS 100
