Finding the Golden Genes pgs. 218-224 a new problem as arisen in sports known as gene doping. Athletes are now altering their genetics to gain an advantage in their particular sport. designer steriods are beign developed and used by athletes in an effort to become stars, these steroids alter their genes. these new scientific ways of improving performance are becoming harder to detect by officials. steriods can be used to enhance endurance and also to block protiends that limit muscle growth which allows athletes to get greater muscle gains. problems for officials is detecting the foreign gene that is helping athletes transfor their genetics. blood tests can be used to show an immune reaction that may show up due to viral infections caused by the gene.
