the head of the Committee on Public Information

HI-he helped sell the american people on the war and the world on Wilsonian war aims with his gilt of writing and imagination

Eugene V debs

Socialist and leading founder of Industrial workers of the world. He was sent to jail under the Espionage act for speaking against the american participation in WW1.

HI-freedom of speech was revoked with the sedition and Espionage act.

Bernard Baruch

Head of the War Industry Board

HI-the board took down labor disputes and pushed employers to give employees better wages and 8 hour work days

Zimmerman Note

A note intercepted saying the Germans wanted to create an alliance with mexico, Germany would then help get back land mexico lost to america.

HI-enraged americans and pushed the president along with the sinking of american ships, into war.

Fourteen Points

the fourteen points Wilson proposed would ensure peace after WW1.

HI- it called for an end to secret treaties, widespread arms reduction, national self determination, and a new league of nations.

League of Nations

a league created after WW1 to ensure the peace of the world. it worked to facilitate peaceful international cooperation.

HI-this league and its actions led to the out break of WW11

committee on public information

a committee who's goals were to inform the world of Wilsons war aims and to sell american people and get them excited for the war.

Espionage and Sedition Acts

acts keeping Americans from speaking bad about the war or anything that was involved in the war or goverment.

HI- it took away the freedom of speech and put many outspoken Americans in prison.

Schenck V. United states

1919. the supreme court affirmed the legality saying the freedom of speech could be revoked if speech put a present danger to the nation

Nineteenth Amendment.

the right for women to vote.

HI-this came with all the suffrage movements started by and lingering after the war and the impact if had for women and their new opportunities

War Industries Board

the war industries board was in charge of making american industries into a war industry/country. it helped with the transition and the board took down labor disputes and pushed employers to give employees better wages and 8 hour work days

Eighteenth Amendment

the sale or manufacturing of intoxicating liquors are forbidden in the united states

HI-it didnt make drinking liquor illegal, but made it difficult to obtain alcohol legally.

Treaty of Versailles

treaty that ended WW1. it made Germany pay back all the countries costs for the war and put them into poverty.

HI-it was the ultimate factor leading to WW2.
