Strong Acid
Completely dissociates in water
Strong base
Completely dissociates in water and is made up from elements from groups 1 and 2 combined with OH-
Neutralization
Combining a strong acid and a strong base to combine and make salt water.
Conjugate Acid
the acid member, HX, of a pair of two compounds that transform into each other by gain or loss of a proton
Conjugate Base
The base produced, X?, is called the conjugate base, and it absorbs, or gains, a proton in the backward chemical reaction.
Amphoteric
Can be either an acid or a base (example- water)
Self Ionization
example, two water molecules hit each other randomly and makes OH- and H3O+
Acid Ionization Constant (Ka)
How well an acid dissociates.
Base Ionization Constant(Kb)
How well it dissociates as a base.
Hydrolysis
Cutting water or cutting with water.
Buffer
An insulator that stops changes in pH
Titration
Use a known amt of one thing and do stoichometry to find out the amt of another substance
Endpoint
When moles of acid is equal to the moles of base.
