-12 labors
-was a semi-god but became a god
Alcmena
- married to Amphitryon
- will not go to bed until he avenged the death of her brothers
- conceived seed of Zeus when he disguised himself as Amphitryon
- mother of Heracles
Eurystheus
- grandson of Zeus
- becomes king of Mycenae due to Hera's help
- imposes the 12 labors in Heracles
Amphitryon
-married Alcmena
-Alcmena wouldn't sleep with him until he aveneged the death of her brothers
-came back and had slept with her on the same night as Zeus, had a son Iphicles
Megara
-first wife of Heracles, had 3 children with him
-one day Heracles went mad and killed Megara and his 3 sons
Nemean lion
-first labor
-lion's skin was impenetrable
-Heracles wrestled him and snapped its neck
-took on of its claws to cut the pelt, wore the skin around his neck

-second labor
-serpent with many heads, lived near the swamps of Lerna
-everytime Heracles cut off one head, two more grew
-Iolaus helped him defeat it

-(really meant to have sex with her)
-Heracles took her girdle, Hera disguised as an Amazon and yelled that Heracles had abducted the queen
-Heracles strangled Hippolyta and stole her girdle

-a monster who had threebodies joined at the waist
-Heracles traveled in the cup of Helius
Cacus
-side deed of Cattle of Geryon
-fire breathing monster
-Heracles killed monster with his club

-Heracles allowed himself to be tied up, but eventually burst his bonds and killed Busiris and his sons

-Heracles caught it without weapons and then brought it back to the underworld
