An issue that arises when humans and the environment interact. Some examples include: recyclying, global warming, tourism, destruction of habitats
What are the two types of rainforests?
Temperate and tropical

Between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn
Define Lithosphere
The upper crust of the earth's mantle, the earth's surface containg beaches, moutains, valleys and so on
Define atmosphere
The layer of gases around the earth
Define Biosphere
Produced when all the spheres interact and includes all living things including plants, animals and humans
Define hydrosphere
Includes all the water on the earth's surface
What does UNESCO stand for and what does this organisation do?
UNESCO: United Nations Education, Scientifc and cultural organisation. One of the roles is deciding which physical and human sites should be placed on the world heritage list

Define Physical Enviroment
Includes all the natural elements of the enviroment that have not been affected/altered by humans
Define human environment
Includes all elements/features of the environment that have been built/changed by humans
Why do we study geography?
To understand the effect that humans have on the evnvironment so that we can live in an evironmentally sustainable way
What do political maps show us?
Boundaries between countries and capital cities
Define spatial perspective
Where things are and why they are there
Define ecological perspective
How humans use and interact with different elements of the physical and built environment
The four layers of a rainforest
Emergent, canopy, understorey and forest floor
What is the difference between natural and cultural world heritage sites?
Natural world hertiage sites are sites that have environmental beauty and in most cases have not been changed by humans, like the Great Barrier Reef.
Cultural world heritage sites are man-made sites that are one of a kind, like the Taj Mahal
Define Rainforest
A forest that has high annual rainfall.
