Medium
The art material that is used in a work of art such as clay, paint or pencil. Describing more then one art medium is referred to as media. Any substance added to color to facilitate application or to achieve a desired effect
Cartoon
A full scale drawing used to transfer or guide a design into a surface to be painted, carved, or woven
Delineation
a chart or diagram; sketch; rough draft
Dry media
drawing materials that do not involve the application of water or other liquids
Liquid media
Water based solution that does not solidify at temperatures above freezing and flows freely
Edition
A group of identical prints that can be numbered and signed by the artist.
Proofs
- a trial impression of a print, made before the final edition is run, so that it may be examined and, if necessary, corrected.

Raised up off the background in reverse(reverse image transfer)

Lithography
- printmaking process in which a polished stone(limestone) is drawn upon with a greasy material;surface is moistened&inked;the ink adheres only 2 the greasy lines of drawing;design is transferred to dampened paper,usually on printing press
silkscreen
a printmaking technique that utilizes stencils that are either cut or burned into a screen. The ink is pushed through the screen using a squeegee. This process can create MULTIPLE copies, and is particularly successful with highly graphic images.
Etching
a kind of engraving in which the design is incised in layer of wax on metal plate. Parts of plate left exposed are then etched (slightly eaten away by acid when plate is immersed after incising)
Pigment
the material used to create the effect of color on any surface.
Support
the surface onto which a painting is made (wood, canvas, paper, wall)

Buon fresco
A painting technique in which water based pigments are applied to a wet surface of wet plaster
Fresco Secco
Created by painting on dried plaster, color flakes off.
