Existentialism
An Atheist Philosophy that in an absurd world man creates his own meaning.

Myth of Sisyphus
As punishment for cheating death, Sisyphus was condemned to eternally roll a boulder up a mountain. Whenever it would reach the top it would roll down again. Conveys lack of meaning.
Theatre of the Absurd
Type of Theatre which conveys the philosophy that one only suffers when they look for meaning in a meaningless world. Opposes man being able to create his own meaning
Pintereque
Taking the Theatre of the Absurd to the next level. Shows the build up of underlying tyranny and cruelty as a manipulation of the Absurd World. Founded by Pinter the playwright behind One for the Road.
John Cage's 4'33"
John Cage who was a brilliant Pianist tried to convey the idea of Performance not Theatre. So at one of his concerts, he went to the piano and closed it. He sat there with a stopwatch for 4 minutes and 33 seconds. The result was that the audience were more attentive to the background noise that accompanies a performance.
Happenings
A happening is a performance, that is unrehearsed, uncoordinated and even unplanned. It just sort of happens. Examples of this could be seen since the early 1900s.
Performance Art
One tries to take art out of the Theatre. Because Art within the Theatre is a lie. True Art is everyday life. and it needs to be as close as possible.
Verbatim Drama
A performance by stating almost word for word and action for action the person speaking. Basically portraying a person who was interviewed.

Empowering vs. Diempowering public conversations
An Empowering conversation is one that moves people to speak on social issues
A Disempowering coversation makes people feel like their voices are not heard.

The play was more Brechtian, the actors could play multiple roles
The movie had famous actors portraying one role each so it was Naturalistic in style.
Performance in Everyday Life
