Moody's mother, married to Raymond, worked as a maid for rich, white people. did not support Moody's activism (threatens to kill herself if Moody does not stop)

one of the rich, white women that Moody works for. pays her well and asks her to tutor her son, Wayne. holds "guild meetings" to talk about African Americans and the NAACP

Toosweet's husband, but not Moody's father. very tense relationship with Moody which makes Moody move out of the house and never come home
