Pinguecula
- Yellow Nodule of hyaline-elastic tissue
- Does not involve cornea
- Usually bilateral
- Usually leads to pterygium or Pingueculitis
Treat Piguecula with
Mild - lubricants, decongestants
Moderate - NSAIDs (itis)
Hot - site specific steroids
Pterygium
- Thin transperent fold of fibrovascular conj tissue over the cornea epithelium and bowmans membrane
- Usually occurs nasally

- V-shaped translucent lesion by the limbus
- Not malignant, elevated, or symetrical
- When in doubt take a picture
Conjunctival Papilloma
- Arises from conjunctival mucous membrane
- If irritation you can remove
- Not imflamed
- Very little vascularization

- Found during allergy season

Exogenous Black Deposits
- Discreate black deposits due to prolonged use of epinephrine
- GLC px and Eye liner use
Benign Melanosis
- Concentration of pigment cell by the perilimbal plica
- More common in blacks
- Salt and pepper look
- R/O malignant melanoma, and dont need to do anythin
Acquired Melanosis
- need to know where its coming from, trauma, injury or infection
- Shows up in 40s
Nevus
- Pre-cancerous mole
- Cystic appearance
- Need to do excision to be safe
Malignant Melanoma
- Elevated area that grows rapidly
- Leading cause of death with skin cancer
- Seen in 40-60s
- Rapid diagnosis and aggressive treatment
Belpharochalasis
- Rare Autoimmune condition
- Loss of tone and stretch to lids due to constant edema around the eye lids
- Seen in young people
- Treat with blepharoplasty
Dermatochalasis
- Loss of tension in the lids
- And herniation of orbital fat through the orbital septum
- Aging process and is bilateral
- Look for px with raised eyebrows and treat with blepharoplasty
Entropion
- Most common cause aging
- Rolling of the lid into the margins (irritating lashes)
Distichiasis

- Accessory cilia grow from meibomian gland orfice
- Treat with bandage cl
- Surgery - crypoepilation
Trichiasis
Inward turning of lashes
-Sequella of chronic blepharitis
- Chronic FB, scratchy, mild abrasions
- Treat by epilation
