Georgia attempted to make whites register and pledge allegiance to georgia law before entering a reservation. Marshall refused to do this and eventually the charges were dropped.

limits powers of the tribal government in internal affairs, gives people certain rights/protections
Indian Self Determination and Education Act
1975 - authorized the Sec of Interior, Health, Education and Welfare and other government agencies to enter into contract with and make grants to Indian tribes allowing the tribes to have more control rather than allocating the decisions to government.
Indian child welfare act
Setup a system of regulations where tribes can both take jurisdiction and can reassert their right over children

Series of 3 court cases held by the supreme court chief justice John Marshall which decided that Native Americans had the right to live on land, however that land was owned by the federal government, and the Native's had tribal sovereignty.
