Variable that is measured in numerical values.
Categorical Variables
A variable that names categories/answers questions.
Identifier Variable
A unique identified assigned to each individual or item in a group

Simple Random Sample

Stratified Random Sampling
Sampling that occurs when we divide the population in homogeneous groups (strata) and use simple random sampling within each stratum.
Cluster Sampling
Sampling that occurs when the population can be split into parts (clusters) such that each cluster is like a mini population.
Systematic Samples
Sampling that is created by selecting every 10th, 50th, etc. individual.

Defining the Population
Nonresponse bias
Bias that occurs when people who don't respond differ systematically from those who do.
Voluntary Response Bias
Bias that occurs when people volunteer to participate. Those with the strongest feelings are more likely to respond than those who have moderate opinions.
Undercoverage
Bias that occurs when some portion of the population is not sampled at all, or has a smaller representation than in the population.
Convenience sampling
Occur when we simply include the individuals who are convenient.
