non-theism: religions can take this stand.

Types of Time
time: unit of measurement,
linear time: starts at one point through different points in history, til the end of the world.
Cyclical Time: Cycle of seasons, solar year, around.... world recreated after certain point... shintoism , decay goddess, change and fade away, belief in renewal though.
eternal time: most mysticism describes eternal time. past is important and it starts when someone else does the same activity (fish) neverending story... all there is is now!

PLACE VS SPACE
what is space? abstract, mathematical, uniform
what is place? unique, precious, communal center, houses, ritual location (stonehenge)
what is sacred? place means an object have have religious significance. church, alters, statues. holy land. place is more easily made sacred.

PRIMAL WORLD
relationship for community and primal people? tribe, living on your own? understanding of time god space, will mediate conversation with a brother next door.
relationship with community have to the rest of the world? all the different tribes make up the world. growing tribes, still remains a limit on the community. continue to grow, make awareness, keep tribe and world together and going.
Totemism and Shamans
Totem? symbolizes spiritual nature of natural world, made into a spiritual aspect. WORSHIPED? no, its just an emblem between you and the tribe, its sacred.
what role does the totem play in the community? starts to have a sociological and community building affect.
WHat does a Shaman do? experience a spiritual realm, do it for a tribe. Goes into the spiritual world, and talking/interacting with totem. can battle evil. does it for the tribe. Shaman and priest? specifi or group rituals (priest), priest can burn for rituals and control prayer.. both priests and shamans. shaman body/essence can return.
Religious Ecstasy: different rituals and different dieties. not like shaman, more god-like. god is entering into him.
