- life satisfaction and our evaluation of important life domains: work, health, relationships

2 levels of optimism

optimists: view as unstable, external, specific
2 Mindsets
- fixed mindset > - the belief that ones qualities are fixed and not amendable to change >performance goals, response to challeneges is helplessness, effort = poor ability, use same strategies, praise on ability
- growth mindset > The belief that basic qualities and skills can be cultivated through persistence, effort, and hard work > learning goals, response to challenges is mastery, effort = success, use new strategies, praise on effort
