NJ Beach Sand
Angular and round, Energetic environment, Normal sand size, Well-sorted, Far away source, Composed of Quartz, Source is sandstone and granite, Experience a lot of weathering, Sediment transported through rivers from Appalachian Mountains
Quartz
clear, yellow tone; comes from sandstone and granite rocks; stable; doesn?t weather chemically, only weathers physically
Coral
white, opage; comes from corals and shells from barrier reefs
Lava
broken down pieces of lava, black and grey; comes from volcanoes
Olivine
green; comes from volcanoes
Physical Weathering
mechanically breaking rocks down into smaller chunks
