•radar that “sees” wind (velocity), and precipitation (reflectivity).
works by sending out a microwave frequency and then listening for the changes in that frequencies when they return.
Doppler radar can detect, which direction the wind, rain, snow, storm is traveling.
Also the type of storm
doppler radar velocity colors
shows direction of wind
red: Winds Blowing Away From Radar
Green:
wind is blowing toward radar
doppler radar reflective colors
shows amount of transmitted power that returns to the radar receiver.
range:
white and purple are the most. = high rainfall and or hail. hail especially cuss its high energy.
black and blue are the least.
