Definition of a fluid mosaic model for phospholipid bilayer membrane.
The phospholipid bilayer consists of two layers of phospholipid molecules that have a hydrophilic heads pointed outward and hydrophobic fatty acid tails that point inwards. The membranes are not symmetric and move laterally.
