Regarding metacognition, there arethree types of knowledge factors, these being declarative knowledge,procedural knowledge, and conditional knowledge. Declarativeknowledge is factual and concrete knowledge; it is knowledge that onecan state, represent, or perform. This is knowing 'what' to do. Procedural knowledge is more foundational. This is knowing 'how' touse the strategies one has and the processes behind one's declarativeknowledge. The final kind of knowledge is conditional knowledge. Conditional knowledge is understanding 'when and why' to use one'sdeclarative and procedural knowledge.
