A hypothesis is a proposed explanation of specific phenomena and observations. A Theory is framework for understanding a broad set of phenomena and observations. It's open to revision as anew hypotheses are tested and new observations are made.

Hypotheses are proposed explanations for specific phenomena or observations and are testable with controlled observations and/or experiments and thus generate predictions. Predictions are measurable, must be correct for hypothesis to be true, and are often phrased as "if..., then...." statements
