WW1 Realism- Power transition (weakness-the other power is rising and usually the one who has the most power will start the war, but in this case it didn?t and Germany (instead of Britain) started the war) Liberalism- Democratic Peace (consequences of industrialization-caused WW1 in Gordon?s opinion) **(Industrialization State Policy and SocietyForeign policy) Marxist- Imperial Interest **(colonies become less important in economic terms--) Realists thought the war started because of the Power transitions Liberals thought it had to do with the disturbance of democratic peace in the world. Marxists thought it was all about imperial interest. (Colonies were becoming less important in economic terms.) Consequences of anarchy- security dilemma (when 2 status quo states have an arms race for no apparent reason) cooperation is difficult to achieve with so many states under no rule (when looking at all of the countries in the world combined) balancing powers (can be messed up with alliances such as bandwagoning and balancing powers) Status quo OPPOSES Revisionist states (N. Korea, Iran, Iraq-countries who don?t like their placement in the world.)
