i. The line (against reality being divisible)

- a line is divisible into parts

- Then it is infinitely divisible into parts (an infinite number of discrete units)

-But if we add these together, then we get an infinitely large line since the smallest number multiplied by infinity is infinity

-Since a finite line cannot be infinitely long, then the line must not truly be divisible

ii. The Arrow (against the real being in motion)

-imagine an arrow in flight

- At a given moment it is either where it is or where it isn’t

- If it is where it is it cannot be moving, since if it were moving it could not be in the space it is

- But it cannot be where it isn’t because it isn’t there

- Therefore, at any particular moment, the arrow is not moving

- Reality has no motion (space or time)

And then he goes into talking about how Achilles let a turtle get a head start, but because the turtle was only half as fast as Achilles, and yet he gave him a 3 yard mark, Achilles was never able to catch up to the turtle because once he’d reach that point the turtle would already be long gone onto the next point.
