Reading Response 2 ? Feminist Theory One thing I disagreed with in one of this weeks readings was in Bell Hooks essay, ?Feminist Politics. ?If feminism is a movement to end sexist oppression, and depriving females of reproductive rights is a form of sexist oppression, then one cannot be anti?choice and be feminist.? (Hooks, p. 40) I?m not sure if the dictionary or who ever makes the set rules agrees with me, but I believe someone who consider is anti?abortion can still be a feminist. While I am pro?choice, I believe that you can be anti abortion and still support equality among women. The fact that someone believes that abortion is wrong does not mean that they aren?t pro?choice, however it may be more basic, like using contraceptives. I realize this is a controversial topic, with different variables such as abortions being allowed for victims of rape and many other things. I do think that Bell Hooks statement is to general to rule out a whole group of people from being feminists. Tyler Dull Microsoft Word - Week 3 - Feminist Theory
