Vegetarianism Norcross’s argument for vegtarianism. His argument is an argument of analogy. The dogs he kills and tortures to produce cocomo to help him appricieate chocolate more after his accident. The structure of an argument from analogy is: Object A has W, X, Y Object B has W, X, Y Object A has Z Therefore Object B has Z Norcrosss has a list of properties that he is getting from torturing these innocent puppies: Gustatory pleasure is the goal/purpose There is suffering of innocent creatures His argument is as follows: 1. Fred’s practice (torturing puppies) involves torturing creatures for gustatory pleasure 2. Factory farming involves torturing creatures for gustatory pleasure 3. Fred’s practice is obviously wrong Conclusion: Factory farming is obviously wrong as well. The argument of causal impotence: Meat eating is obviously wrong, yet if I stop eating meat nothing will change so I might as well keep eating meat.
