The peace that augustus brought to rome was called the Pax Romana. lasted for 200 years. other problems did occur, but not as much.civilization spread. cultures mixed. no tarrifs. shipping became a big buisness. Trade increased, and Romans prospered.

law changed greatly. Twelve Tables were changed because Roman merchants had to do business with non-romans. Roman judges had to write down laws far to these "non-romans"
Roman judges were helped by special lawyers and legal writers called juris prudentes.
